The Secretary-General of The Union of Trade Unions of Chad (UST), Brother Gounoung Vaima Gan-Fare was arrested by Chadian Security Services on the 14th of May, 2022 at the premises of the Ministry of Public Security for having participated in a peaceful march on 14th May, 2014.
Sources indicate that two days after his arrest, he was made to appear before the state prosecutor and subsequently imprisoned at the Klessoum jail at N’Djamena.
Following this turn of events, OATUU has written to the Prime Minister of the Transition Government of Chad demanding that Comrade Gounoung be released and that any legal action being taken against him be brought to a halt.
