OATUU is an authentic, independent, free and non-alligned Pan-African trade union Organisation.  It is not affiliated to any international  trade union organisation.  It is a Specialized Agency of the Organization of African Unity (OAU).  It has consultative status with:

International Labour Organisation (ILO);

United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC);

United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO);

Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO).
