OATUU Delegation Pays Courtesy Visit to Ghana’s Foreign Affairs Ministry

A delegation from the Organisation of African Trade Union Unity (OATUU), led by Secretary-General, Mr. Arezki Mezhoud, paid a courtesy visit to Ghana’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration on 16th January 2026.

The delegation included Assistant Secretaries-General, Mr. Ibrahim Abrar Ibrahim and Mr. Emmanuel Nzunda. They were received by Ghana’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, and officials of the Ministry.

The meeting provided a platform for an exchange of views on shared concerns, labour issues, and the broader challenges facing workers across Africa and globally. Discussions focused on strengthening cooperation between governments and organised labour to advance decent work, social justice, and workers’ rights on the continent.

During the engagement, Honourable Ablakwa reaffirmed the Government of Ghana’s commitment to working closely with OATUU, underscoring the Ministry’s readiness to defend and support the organisation in its mandate.

In response, Secretary-General, Arezki Mezhoud expressed OATUU’s appreciation to the Government of Ghana for its continued support and solidarity. He highlighted the importance of such partnerships in reinforcing the role of trade unions in promoting fair labour practices, social protection, and inclusive development across Africa.
