OATUU Participates in COTU-Kenya 15th Governing Council National Delegates Conference

The Organisation of African Trade Union Unity (OATUU) participated in the 15th Governing Council National Delegates Conference of the Central Organization of Trade Unions (COTU-Kenya) held on 14th March 2026 in Kisumu, Kenya. OATUU was represented by its Secretary-General, Mr. Arezki Mezhoud, who delivered remarks on behalf of the organisation.

In his address, the Secretary-General expressed appreciation for COTU-Kenya’s continued support to the Pan-African trade union movement and highlighted the historic role of the organisation in strengthening workers’ unity in Kenya and across Africa. He emphasised the need for stronger trade unions, economic sovereignty, respect for labour rights, and transparent governance to advance social justice and sustainable development on the continent.

A major outcome of the Congress was the re-election of Brother Dr. Francis Atwoli, current President of OATUU, for another five-year term as Secretary-General of COTU-Kenya.

OATUU congratulates Brother Atwoli on his re-election and reaffirms its commitment to continued collaboration with COTU-Kenya in promoting trade union unity and advancing the rights and welfare of African workers.
