On the occasion of International Worker’s Day this year, the Organisation of African Trade Union Unity (OATUU) has issued a message of solidarity to workers across the African continent. The coronavirus pandemic has proven to be a global disruption to our approach to work and life in general. Owing to reasons of public health and safety, the May Day celebration has experienced its fair share of deviation from our normal festivities. OATUU recognizes the changes and challenges that have risen as a result of the pandemic. In light of these peculiar circumstances, the organisation ‘salutes the determination and hard work of all workers who have continued to fight against the pandemic as well as contributed to the economic survival and resilience of Africa despite being affected by the Covid-19 crisis.’
