The Secretary-General of the Organisation of African Trade Union Unity (OATUU), Mr. Arezki Mezhoud has met with the Algerian Minister of Labour, Mr. Cheurfa. The meeting took place on the 9th of June, 2022, at the United Nations headquarters, on the sidelines of the ongoing 110th International Labour Conference (ILC) in Geneva, Switzerland.
Mr. Mezhoud and Mr. Cheurfa discussed the current situation in the world of work and the new challenges that tripartite actors must confront. Mr. Cheurfa then went on to highlight Algeria’s cooperation with and contribution to the International Labour Organisation (ILO) with the aim of helping the organisation achieve its objectives in terms of employment, social protection and respect for fundamental rights at work.
The OATUU Secretary-General seized the opportunity to thank the Algerian government for its support of the African trade union movement and commended it for its actions in favour of workers and young people.
