The OATUU Secretariat had the pleasure of hosting two trade union leaders from the national centers on 23rd August, 2024. President of the Zimbabwe Congress of Trade Unions (ZCTU), Sister Florence Mucha Taruvinga and Secretary-General of the Zambia Congress of Trade Unions (ZCTU), Brother Joy Beene visited the OATUU Secretariat to engage in productive discussions on various issues impacting their respective national centers.
During their visit, these leaders met with the OATUU executives to share insights and experiences, focusing on challenges faced by the labor movements in Zimbabwe and Zambia. The discussions centered around strategies for improving workers’ rights, as well as strengthening the role of trade unions in advocating for social justice.
The meeting underscored the importance of workers’ education among African trade unions to address common challenges and advance the interests of African workers across the continent. Both leaders emphasized the need for continued solidarity and collaboration among trade unions to effectively tackle issues such as wage disparities, job security, and social protection for workers.
