OATUU Condemns US Military Aggression and Interference in Venezuela

The Organisation of African Trade Union Unity (OATUU) has condemned the imperialist aggression of the United States against the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and the kidnapping of President Nicolás Maduro and his wife, Célia Flores. This attack is a blatant violation of Venezuela’s national sovereignty, international law, and the fundamental rights of its people.

OATUU denounces the targeting of President Maduro, the legitimate representative of the Venezuelan people, as part of a broader strategy aimed at destabilization and domination. By threatening the leadership of a sovereign country, the democratic will of millions of Venezuelans is being silenced, and the principles of democracy worldwide are undermined.

In solidarity with the workers and people of Venezuela, OATUU calls on trade unions, social movements, and progressive forces across Africa and the world to demand:

  • The immediate release of President Nicolás Maduro and his wife;
  • An end to foreign interference and attempts at modern colonization;
  • Full respect for international law and the right of all peoples to self-determination.

OATUU stands firmly alongside the Venezuelan people and all those striving for justice, dignity, and peace. Find the full statement below.
