OATUU Delegation Pays Courtesy Call on Ghanaian President John Mahama

A high-level delegation from the Organisation of African Trade Union Unity (OATUU), led by Secretary-General of Ghana Trades Union Congress, Brother Joshua Ansah, OATUU Secretary-General, Mr. Arezki Mezhoud, OATUU Treasurer-General, Mr. Ibrahim Abrar Ibrahim and OATUU Consultant, Alex Bonney paid a courtesy visit to the President of the Republic of Ghana, H.E. John Dramani Mahama on 11th September 2025 at the Jubilee House.

After a warm welcome by the Presidency, Mr. Mezhoud conveyed fraternal greetings on behalf of OATUU and expressed gratitude for Ghana’s longstanding support in hosting the organisation’s headquarters in Accra. He highlighted Ghana’s historic role in advancing African unity, workers’ rights, and Pan-African ideals, noting that these values continue to inspire the wider African labour movement.

Mr. Mezhoud reaffirmed OATUU’s mission as a continental trade union organisation, working across more than 50 African countries to promote decent work, social justice, and sustainable development. He further commended President Mahama’s leadership in championing the African Union’s theme on reparatory justice for Africans and people of African descent, describing it as a vital step toward addressing historical injustices and reclaiming Africa’s future.

“OATUU fully supports this movement,” he said, pledging the organisation’s collaboration with African leaders to advance reparative justice and continental progress.

The delegation concluded by saluting President Mahama’s dedication to Africa’s liberation, unity, and empowerment.
