The Organisation of African Trade Union Unity (OATUU) is deeply saddened by the passing of DR Mouna Abdelmadjid Al Bachir in Khartoum, Sudan. She served as the Treasurer General of the Sudanese Workers’ Trade Union Federation (SWTUF) and was a committed militant who dedicated her life to the workers’ cause.

Even after the dissolution of SWTUF and her imprisonment in Khartoum, she remained steadfast in the struggle, refusing to be intimidated. Her courage and sacrifices will be remembered as a beacon for the labour movement.

OATUU’s Secretary-General, Mr. Arezki Mezhoud has extended heartfelt condolences to her family and SWTUF. Her unwavering commitment to justice and workers’ rights will continue to inspire generations. May she rest in peace.
