Secretary-General of The Organisation of African Trade Union Unity (OATUU), Mr. Arezki Mezhoud, has attended a national stakeholder forum organised by The Ghana Institute of Journalism (GIJ) in collaboration with the UNESCO Ghana Commission to commemorate World Press Freedom Day 2021. The Forum took place at the Institute’s campus at North Dzorwulu on the 29th of April, 2021 and was structured around the theme “Information as a Public Good: Media Literacy, Press Freedom and the State of Journalism in Ghana.”
The forum featured a variety of seasoned speakers from the Ghanaian media, academic and civil society landscape including Freelance Journalist, Manasseh Azure Awuni and Executive Director of the Media Foundation for West Africa, Mr. Sulemana Braimah.
World Press Freedom Day is an annual celebration that is observed to raise awareness of the importance of freedom of the press.
