The All-China Federation of Trade Unions (ACFTU) has donated a medical supplies package to African workers to assist in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic at workplaces. The donation consists mainly of nasal masks and hydro-alcoholic gel. Within the framework of cooperation and solidarity, the Federation also donated office equipment and supplies for the OATUU Secretariat in Accra, Ghana.
The presentation of the aforementioned medical equipment and supplies took place at the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Accra. A delegation of OATUU led by the Secretary-General, Mr. Arezki Mezhoud, was present to receive the donation.
The International Affairs Officer at the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Accra said in his message from ACFTU that ACFTU will continue to support African trade unions and workers, especially in these difficult times of struggle and resistance against the Covid-19 pandemic, which is beginning to gain significant momentum in Africa.
Secretary-General of OATUU, having expressed his gratitude to the All-China Federation of Trade Unions, warmly thanked the Federation for this symbolic and historic gesture of solidarity, as well as the Chinese government for facilitating the transfer of these commodities. He stressed that this cooperation was a tradition between the two organisations, which would further be strengthened in the future. He added that ACFTU comrades have always supported their African comrades and said African workers would remember that their Chinese comrades have always been at their side in times of great trials.
