The President of the Kwame Nkrumah Pan African Center, Samia Nkrumah has called on African countries to collaborate in the pursuit of African unity. According to Madam Nkrumah, African unity is not a sentimental dream, but a possibility that can be achieved through collective effort and planning.
Speaking at the 43rd session of the General Council of the OATUU in Cairo, Egypt, she stated that African unity should be fashioned around three key elements; economic planning and integration, a common foreign policy, and a common defense system with a joint army.
She stated that contrary to the belief of some, such transformation would not translate into the loss of independence for the various African countries. However, through cooperation, the system would accommodate unique situations that each country faces and allow them to make individual adjustments.
