The Organisation of African Trade Union Unity (OATUU) has celebrated workers during its May Day celebration at its headquarters at Accra, Ghana. The event was organised to recognise the contribution of workers to the progress of the organisation and development on the African continent.
Secretary-General, Arezki Mezhoud expressed his appreciation to the staff for their relentless commitment and encouraged them to harness their creativity in dealing with tasks.
Head Economist and Educator, Sheryl E. A. Acquah delivered a presentation on the importance of May Day as a celebration. She stressed that the day was a prime opportunity for trade unions to express their commitment to protecting the rights of workers. This was followed by a brief discussion between the staff and management.
