As the world celebrated International Women’s Day, the Organisation of African Trade Union Unity (OATUU) marked the day with a special event at its headquarters in Accra, Ghana. The celebration focused on acknowledging the work and effort of OATUU’s local female staff.

Addressing the attendants, the Secretary-General of OATUU, Arezki Mezhoud, wished all women a happy International Women’s Day and urged them to grow and flourish in the work environment. In his address, he acknowledged the potential women possess to contribute to development and encouraged the staff to continue working to protect and defend the rights of workers across the African continent. The Secretary-General also emphasised the need to promote gender parity in the workplace and include women in the decision-making process.

Amidst the festivity, the organisation presented all the women with a token to express its appreciation for their commitment to the realisation of OATUU’s goals.
