The Organisation of African Trade Union Unity (OATUU), represented by its Secretary-General, Mr. Arezki Mezhoud, attended a significant lecture debate on 27th November, 2024, at the Institute of African Studies, University of Ghana, Legon. The event, themed “Role of Algeria in the Independence Struggle in Africa,“ was delivered by former Ambassador and President of the Association of the Friends of the Algerian Revolution, H.E. Noureddine Djoudi.
In his address, H.E. Noureddine Djoudi highlighted the solidarity and unity among African nations during the struggle for independence and called upon the current generation to emulate this unity in the ongoing fight for economic liberation. The lecture underscored the historical connections and mutual support that drove Africa’s freedom movements, providing a powerful reminder of the importance of pan-African collaboration.
The event was graced by several dignitaries, including H.E. Mourad Louhaidia, Ambassador of Algeria in Accra, who introduced the keynote speaker. Students and faculty from the University of Ghana also actively participated in the discussions. A photo exhibition titled “The Algerian Revolution in Pictures” was unveiled after the lecture, showcasing powerful imagery of Algeria’s fight for independence.
This event was a meaningful reminder of Africa’s shared history and the need to foster unity to achieve sustainable development and progress.
