The Organisation of African Trade Union Unity (OATUU) has called on its affiliates to advocate to their governments to settle outstanding financial contributions to the International Labour Organisation (ILO).
In a statement, OATUU emphasises that the non-payment of contributions is undermining the ILO’s ability to function effectively, threatening its role in promoting workers’ rights, social dialogue and sustainable development globally.
The organisation appeals for African trade union solidarity and decisive action to protect and reinforce the ILO, emphasising that fulfilling financial obligations is a matter of responsibility, solidarity and commitment to decent work and social justice.
