The Organization of African Trade Union Unity (OATUU) has learnt with great pain the cowardly and abject murder of Comrade Simeone DENG, President of the Southern Sudan Workers Trade Union Federation (SSWTUF) while on mission, in the EL Nasir Region on the night of March 26, 2019.
OATUU condemns in the strongest terms this heinous crime that has targeted an innocent and peaceful trade union activist and calls on the South Sudanese government to launch an investigation to arrest the perpetrators of this barbaric act and bring them to justice.
We offer our sincere condolences to all members of his family, to the South Sudan Trade Union Confederation of Workers and to all African trade unionists.
Simone was a Pan-Africanist trade unionists committed to human values who has sacrificed his life for the cause of workers and peace in his country and in Africa.
Finally, OATUU expresses its full solidarity with the family of Simone and all workers of Southern Sudan in the struggle for peace, democracy, social justice and the economic and social prosperity of their country.
