The Secretary-General of the Organisation of African Trade Union Unity (OATUU), Mr. Arezki Mezhoud, recently took part in a significant event hosted by the Economic, Social, and Cultural Council (ECOSOCC) at the Kempinski Hotel in Accra, Ghana. The program, titled “Work Program on the ECOSOCC Pre-validation and Multistakeholder Meeting on the CSO Peace and Security Database Hybrid,” marked the 28th anniversary of ECOSOCC and featured a range of activities aimed at enhancing collaboration among civil society organizations (CSOs) across Africa.
As a key participant, Mr. Mezhoud joined a roundtable discussion focused on the theme of peace and security in Africa and its profound impact on socioeconomic development. The roundtable provided a platform for in-depth dialogue on the challenges and opportunities in promoting peace and stability across the continent, with particular emphasis on how these factors influence economic growth and social progress.
OATUU’s active involvement in this high-level discussion underscores the organization’s commitment to addressing critical issues that affect African workers and trade unions. By engaging with ECOSOCC and other stakeholders, OATUU continues to advocate for policies that foster peace, security, and sustainable development, all of which are essential for the well-being of Africa’s labor force.
The program highlighted the importance of collaborative efforts between trade unions, CSOs, and other key players in driving positive change across Africa.
