A delegation of OATUU has participated in the 2nd Russia-Africa Economic and Humanitarian Forum Summit held from 27 to 28 July 2023 in Saint Petersburg, Russia. According to the organisers, 49 African States represented by 17 Heads of State, Prime Ministers, Heads of Government and other institutions participated in the forum.
OATUU participated in cooperation with the Russian Federation of Independent Trade Unions (FNPR). The organisation, led by its Secretary-General, Arezki Mezhoud took this opportunity to discuss with the FNPR the prospects and actions to be developed in the future to strengthen solidarity between African and Russian workers.
The Russian-Africa cooperation and partnership must take into account the social dimension in order to preserve the rights of African workers and above all allow them to enjoy the fruits of this cooperation.
Both organisations agreed to organise further meetings in the future in order to define the axis of cooperation and the common action program.

In a meeting with the FNPR leadership at the St. Petersburg University, President Michail Shmakov, who welcomed the OATUU delegation, said that this visit was a starting point for developing cooperation and solidarity between the FNPR and African unions.
The Secretary-General of OATUU, Mr. Arezki Mezhoud, who thanked the FNPR for this invitation, recalled that the cooperation between OATUU and the Russian unions dates back to the era of the Soviet Union. He added that OATUU which is the authentic voice of African workers, is an independent and non-aligned organisation that acts to develop cooperation and strong construction at the national, regional and international levels. It acts for a just and prosperous world where peace and brotherhood reign.
