“You are the candidate of social justice”, declares OATUU Secretary-General to new ILO Director-General, Gilbert Houngbo

During a speech by the Secretary-General of OATUU, Mr. Arezki Mezhoud, at the Workers’ Group meeting during the 110th session of the International Labour Conference happening in Geneva, Switzerland, the new Director-General of the International Labour Organisation (ILO), Mr. Gilbert Houngbo, came to greet and thank the workers’ delegates. He declared after having renewed his congratulations, that his election is first of all a democratic act and a merit towards an African candidate who has the necessary skills to manage a large institution like the ILO. He added that African workers fully support his project for a global coalition for social justice; a value that all workers in the world share. He also called for the instrument on amending the 1986 ILO Constitution to be ratified during his mandate.
