OATUU organises virtual conference in solidarity with Palestinian people

In light of the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza, the Organisation of African Trade Union Unity (OATUU) is taking a stand for justice and solidarity with the Palestinian people. Since October 2023, the Zionist occupation has inflicted untold suffering upon the civilian population of Gaza, resulting in tens of thousands of casualties, predominantly among children and women.

The devastating impact of this conflict cannot be overstated, with widespread destruction of infrastructure exacerbating an already dire humanitarian situation. Despite international condemnation and calls for an immediate ceasefire from bodies such as the International Court of Justice and the UN Security Council, the Israeli government persists in its campaign of violence with impunity.

In adherence to its founding principles and commitment to solidarity, OATUU is organizing an online conference on May 7th, 2024, to rally support for the Palestinian workers and people. Under the theme, “Stop the genocide against the population of Gaza, for the respect of the right of the Palestinian people,” this virtual gathering aims to amplify the voices of those affected and demand an end to the atrocities.
