The Secretary-General of the Organisation of African Trade Union Unity (OATUU), Mr. Arezki Mezhoud, has paid a visit to HAK-IS President, Mahmut Arslan in Turkey to discuss enhancing collaboration between the two organisations. HAK-IS is one of the biggest trade union confederations in Turkey, with over 600,000 members.
Both leaders engaged in productive talks on bolstering cooperation, focusing on shared goals and addressing common challenges faced by workers in Africa and Turkey. Stressing the importance of unity among trade unions, the leaders also explored avenues for joint initiatives with an emphasis on knowledge-sharing and capacity building.
Expressing optimism about the potential outcomes, Mr. Mezhoud and President Arslan affirmed their commitment to working closely to promote social justice, decent work, and inclusive economic growth. The strengthened partnership aims to amplify the voices of workers and protect their rights, marking a positive stride towards a more unified global labor movement.
