Following the cooperative agreement signed by OATUU and Memur-Sen(Turkey) from 04th to 09th March 2018 in Ankara, in order to Strengthen cooperation between African Trade Unions and MEMUR-SEN, OATUU participated to a training program on “International Trade Unionism and Social Policy” organized by Memur-Sen in partnership with the Public Administration Institute for Turkey and the Middle East (TODAİE), from 30th April to 7th May 2018 for 24 trade unionists representing 24 different countries and different continents.
The purpose of this training, as stated by the President of Memur-Sen Mr. Ali Yalçın during the welcoming ceremony is to contribute to the creation of new coordination mechanisms on various issues; trade union rights, freedom of association, social dimensions of economic integration and social protection. To allow us to get to know each other better and to share our experiences, but also and above all, to ask ourselves the right questions on how to strengthen and revitalize the trade union movement.
This program was composed of lectures with various topics like: labor and unionism; new trends in trade unionism; poverty and social policy; organizational culture; occupational health and safety; trade unionism and new media along with others…Added to this, technical visits were conducted to different Trade Unions Headquarters, Universities and Institutions. Among them were Memur-Sen, TISK, Hak-IS, YUNUS EMRE ENSTITUSU, TEKNOPARK…
This training gathered in total 12 African Countries: Algeria, Angola, Comoros Island, Djibouti, DR Congo, Eritrea, Gambia, Ghana (OATUU), Guinea-Bissau, Mali, Mozambique and Zambia.
Added to the above list, two (2) American Countries: Haiti and Venezuela and eight (8) countries from Asia: Bangladesh, India, Jordan, Kirgizstan, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Philippines.
At the end of the program, the participants attended the two day International Congress on “Human, Labor and Global Competition” organized by Memur-Sen in Istanbul attended by more than 105 different countries.
